We are an entertainment and coaching company that specializes in the spectacular.

Our Mission

Fake Geek Girl Productions creates, celebrates, and supports inspiring entertainment forged by magical, compassionate artists. From fearless fantasy to spirited scifi, cosmic classes to passionate performance, Fake Geek Girl turns bold ambitions and wild visions into IRL products, productions, plans, and prosperity.

Whether participating in Fake Geek Girl Productions as a professional or audience member, you will experience authentic optimism, guileless joy, and healing laughter.

Founded by Renaissance grrl Nicole Keating in 2014, Fake Geek Girl Productions also unites her creative and artistic brands. As The Fake Geek Girl, Nicole revels in the fierce, femme, feminism in every fandom and roasts the lack thereof.

Our Vision

At Fake Geek Girl Productions, we envision a world where…

As Minnie Barre, she devises upbeat burlesque solos & shows inspired by pop culture and classic burlesque. Within The Creative Coven, she guides other witchy artists in creating routines and rituals that honor their emotions, nourish their dreams, and manifest their ideal career.

The foundation of all of these is Nicole herself, an irrepressible and imaginative actress, director, and writer.

No matter the genre or medium, any Fake Geek Girl production is grounded in the belief that excellent entertainment demands empathy and self-reflection, so good stories have the potential to create a more ethical, humane, warm world for everyone.

Warm as in welcoming. Not warm as in climate change. Fake Geek Girl Productions has not solved climate change.

  • No one strives to thrive. Instead of struggling to balance the vibrant yearnings of a creative mind with the harsh demands of capitalism, all creatives possess the resources that allow them to bring their creations to life without sacrificing boundaries, ease, and humor. Humanity’s insatiable appetite for entertainment leads to countless opportunities for every kind of creative project and person, filling the world with organized, kind, inclusive, & wealthy spaces for artists to practice & share their craft.

  • Creatives lead by example. Instead of fretting over who wins, who is right, who is the best, we work together to show up as our best selves. We feel dazzling and we don’t dim our shine. We inspire others to do the same. We aren’t in our heads and we listen to our bodies to find wisdom, strength, and authenticity. We spread joy and optimism. We support each other as a community of creators and nourish the world with our stories.

Humans need art. We need story. But we’ve programmed a society of unethical systems and inequitable customs that doesn’t value artists and storytellers. Creative spirits are stifled - anxious and depressed and uncertain because they’ve been told that their dreams aren’t possible. Their wild imaginations aren’t something to be prized, but something to be culled through cruelty and ruthless competition. Teachers, directors, leaders, and even other artists cut people down, inflicting creative wounds that many people never heal from.

The entertainment industry still wants to thin the herd. Fake Geek Girl Productions aims to expand the farm.

Our Values

Magic

How We Live This Value

We take joy in imagination & creativity. We spread optimism through humor. We invite play & authentic self-expression. We have fun. We stay curious. We remember that transformation is key to magic & storytelling. We grow. We hope.

Courage

How We Live This Value

We do what we say we will. If we don’t, we take accountability & take action. We are humble enough to admit when we’re wrong. We take initiative. We persevere. We’re comfortable with vulnerability. We commit to fairness and progress.

Love

How We Live This Value

We love ourselves and our team members by encouraging true self-care. We build kind, peaceful spaces. We have compassion for the human condition. We stay patient. We seek fulfillment with our whole hearts. We remember that entertainment is a service.

  • Society respecognizes™ (recognizes + respects) entertainment as a service. Instead of greedily and thoughtlessly consuming media, audiences are curious, compassionate, and conscious. They balance each streaming service subscription with a subscription to an independent artist, every movie ticket with a donation to a project or cause important to them. Like all service workers, entertainers need to be increasingly seen and compensated for the foundational gifts they give to the world.

  • Imagination is not only nurtured but rewarded. Instead of discouraging daydreams, we ask, “How can we make that dream a reality?” If someone expresses an interest in an artistic career, we don’t condemn them. We ask, “How can we turn passion into prosperity?” We’ve ditched our adherence to algorithms, and we ask, “How can we reclaim our social and [pop] cultural independence?”

  • Anyone and everyone can make epic art. Instead of tearing down someone’s skills, we empower them to improve through empathy and serenity. What we currently think of as the coveted T A L E N T is a myth, a buzzword used to normalize the inequities built into the arts & entertainment industry. The word “talent” originates from terms meaning a sum of money, so to have more talent is simply to have more resources, more tools in your toolbox. Anyone and everyone should have access to these tools.
